Abdul Razak Aziz, Executive Director
Abdul Razak Aziz is a Washington, DC native. He graduated with a BA in Government from Colby College in 2001, and a JD from Howard University School of Law in 2004. He currently works as an attorney while also pursing further studies in the Islamic sciences.
Abdul Razak began his Arabic studies with Shaykh Javid Bhaiyat at the Islamic Community Center of Laurel while attending law school. After law school, he traveled to Amman, Jordan and studied Arabic at the Qasid Institute. While there, he also benefited from the tasawwuf lessons of Shaykh Nuh Keller, and classes in Hanafi Fiqh with Shaykh Faraz Rabbani. He later returned to Jordan and pursued further studies at Qasid and with Shayh Nuh, while also benefiting from classes in theology and tafsir with Shaykh Hamza Karamali, and in Hanafi Fiqh with Shaykh Dawood Trevelyan.
After his initial return to the United States, Abdul Razak continued his studies online in Hanafi fiqh with Shaykh Faraz Rabbani, Shaykh Sohail Hanif, and Dr. Ashraf Muneeb. He also studied logic, theology, hadith methodology, and usul al-fiqh with Shaykh Hamza Karamali. Other teachers of his in various subjects include Shaykh Abdul Karim Yahya, Ml. Ahsan Syed, Mufti Yusuf Mullan, Dr. Mufti Yasir Nadeem, and Dr. Moatasem el-Gheriani. He has also benefited from the classes and lectures of Shaykh Atabek Shukurov.
Abdul Razak currently facilitates weekly halaqahs for the Tajdeed Institute, in addition to serving as its Executive Director.
